Chained to the system & Losing the art of the pow wow

2–3 minutes

The art of conversation, face to face, voice to voice. Conflict and clash in opinion for depth of thought to be challenged. Open discussion, conflicting biases being unpacked.

Knowing another’s philosophy and appreciating difference.

Knowing how privilege impacts access to differing viewpoints.

Finding the alchemy of growth through intellectual difference. The wisdom created within ones options for wellness. Knowing there is more wisdom in that space than say a brand.

The dancing act of being chained to the direction of the privileged. Accepting a dependency on said system, and knowing what the system provides such as anti-retroviral therapy is a privilege.

As a teenager digesting this future I had ahead of me after my diagnosis, I struggled to see ahead. Accept the dependency I would face every day, that is medicine provision of an expensive product that is privy to my longevity.

It took the backbone love of family, and maybe also, say someone who derailed me, yet also got me on track at the same time for 10 plus years of my life to be able to see ahead again.

That future and planning, requires a footing, a security.

Financial security is typically something we all have to make for ourselves.

Safety net of love though, that can sometimes do wonders more.

A launchpad if you will to have more options.

Many people do not find a sense of security after a mis endeavor, get lost to the systems of their society.

To become an engineer, well to maximize my brain in some way, is something in theory I thought teenage me would be proud of. Yet again, there is a different level of the systems we must partake in to use expertise gained. Let alone to even be recognized for contribution in that space full of inherited privilege and misogyny.

To maximize intellectual potential, regardless of profession, well that also comes back to financial security.

So maybe life using amber resin to ward off the plague and finding authentic spaces for a pow wow, is maybe more fulfilling that being lost in a different system.

That is, in the spaces without care for the whole.

Yet, as bottom up solutions go to the wayside once more, one must always engage with different hierarchies to have any power in perception of the direction of the human race.

To be able to see, have sight on trajectories and reflect on the ethics.
